Generic maintenance intervals are a good starting point, but your owner's manual has the exact schedule for your engine and drivetrain. When in doubt, follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
Severe Driving Conditions
Stop-and-go traffic, extreme heat or cold, towing, and dusty roads all count as "severe" conditions. Most manufacturers recommend shorter service intervals under these conditions.
