DON'T GET BURNED
Inspect in Daylight
Always inspect a used car in natural daylight. Garage lighting and evening visits hide paint flaws, dents, and rust that are obvious in the sun.
Get an Independent Inspection
A pre-purchase inspection by YOUR mechanic (not the seller's) costs $100-200 and can save you thousands. Never skip this step.
Be Willing to Walk Away
If the seller won't let you inspect the car, resists a test drive, or pressures you to decide now — walk away. Another car will come along.
Do Your Homework
Research Before You Visit
Look up the VIN, check for recalls, and compare it against similar vehicles — all free.
