This is also a very comfortable tool to use. The rubber overmolding makes the tool easier to grip, and provides some protection from the elements. This tool will set you back around 200 dollars, but it’s worth it when  you consider the features:

This means that the tools outer casing was designed to resist damage from the chemicals typically associated with working on cars. Still, it’s also important to note that this is a very basic tool. It does not have a brushless motor, for example. Still, you can count on it for up to 310 pounds of torque per foot and 1650 RPM. For most home users, this is more than adequate.

This tool runs about 113 dollars, which is reasonably priced. It’s a good tool to keep around. In fact, we’ve ranked it the best cordless impact wrench for changing tires. Here are its specs:

4) Black & Decker BDCI20C Impact Driver

First, it’s less than 60 dollars, and could be worth adding to  your tool box, even as a secondary. It’s also a decent enough impact driver that it could be a workable substitute if you aren’t fully committed to buying an impact wrench.

Because this is an impact driver, it can fit screw bits, and sockets. So, you can use it on both bolts and screws. However, it does like a brushless motor, the torque is weak, and there’s no tech in place for overload protection. The features are listed below:

5) Milwaukee 2762-20 High Torque Impact Wrench

The first gives you 100 pounds of torque per foot. That’s for applications where you need more accuracy than power.  The second setting gives you that stunning, 700 pounds of torque. This tool is absolutely certain to loosen anything that is rusted or otherwise stuck on.

In addition to being powerful, this is a very comfortable tool to use. It has an ergonomic grip, and LED lighting to help illuminate your area of focus. Just know that you will spend close to 300 dollars for this, but it’s well worth it. If you face a lot of tough jobs, this impact wrench should earn a spot on your short list. 6) Dewalt DCF899HB 20V Impact Wrench

The reason that this is such a desired feature is that the brushless motor lacks moving parts. This means less wear and tear. It’s also rich with other features. It spins at 1900 RPM, has 3 speeds, and an LED light. In addition to this, the wrench is exceptionally durable. In fact, Dewalt claims it can survive a fall from six feet, unscathed. We don’t recommend testing this out.

Of course, torque is always the key consideration. This one offers 700 pounds per foot. That’s pretty impressive, and plenty for most jobs. Specs are:

7) Makita XWT11Z Brushless Impact Wrench

This particular wrench is notably in particular because of its small size. It weighs less than 3 pounds, and is only 5 inches long. If you need to get into small spaces, this could be a great tool for you to have.

Of course, as you might expect, power isn’t really a feature here. It only has 210 pounds of torque per foot. That will make quick work of some jobs, but you certainly aren’t going to take rusted lug nuts off of your lifted Ford with this. Here are the features and specs:

8) Ryobi P1833 Impact Wrench
Ryobi P1833 3-Speed 1/2-Inch Impact Wrench Kit This impact wrench weighs in at 1.61 pounds. In spite of this, it still gives you 300 pounds of torque per foot and decent IPM. Given the size, it’s actually a pretty powerful tool.

If you already own Ryobi tools, you probably know that the power packs are interchangeable from one tool to the next. This one is no exception. So, you won’t have to buy a battery pack unless you choose to. If you do, you can get 4 amp hours out of Ryobi’s newer power packs.

This tool is decently priced at just under 130 dollars. We think it is a good middle of the road tool that works in a lot of different applications. Here’s a good round up of the specs:

9) Bosch IDH182-02 Cordless Impact Driver

This impact driver has a brushless engine, easy to control power, overload protection, and all of the features you might expect from a model at this price point. If there is a downside, it is the lack of power. You only get 137.5 pounds of torque per foot. Still, if you are looking for a smaller tool that you can count on, add this to your list. 10) Craftsman C3 Heavy Duty Impact Wrench Kit

Craftsman offers the C3 in a ½ inch option. You can also buy a version that is ⅜ inch. In fact, if you’re looking for one, we think this is the best ⅜ cordless impact wrench on the market. Both are comparably priced at a bit under 200 dollars.

We will say up front that the ½ inch does get more torque. It’s also about 4 pounds lighter. Other than that, they are pretty comparable. Both are 19.2 volts. They are compatible with lithium ion batteries (sold separately). Most importantly, both have the Craftsman name and guarantee. Here are the features:
